A regional Meshtastic network built by the community,
for the community.
Upper Meshigan is a regional LoRa and Meshtastic mesh network covering the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and surrounding areas.
It’s a community-driven effort to create an independent, resilient communications network for outdoor enthusiasts, rural communities, and anyone who wants another way to stay connected — even when traditional infrastructure isn’t available.
Focused on Upper Michigan and surrounding areas.
Built and maintained by local participants.
Local radio messaging doesn’t rely on cell towers.
The Upper Meshigan network was created to provide a reliable, low-cost, and independent communications option for the region. It started with a simple idea: if we can connect people in the wilderness and rural areas, we can build a stronger, more resilient community — one node at a time.
The network is maintained by a group of volunteers within the NEWCOMMNET community. We coordinate, support, and help grow the network through collaboration, shared knowledge, and a common goal: better local communications.
NEWCOMMNET provides the platform, resources, and coordination to help the Upper Meshigan network grow and stay reliable. We support the community, share information, and help bring people together to build something that lasts.
The more people who participate, the stronger and more useful it becomes.
